Luxord was pretty amused at the suspicious attitude of Terra. He tried to explain.

“I certainly could. However, this city, a mantle of utter darkness serving as a rug for our base, has its dangers. The people that dwell in the castle are also responsible for keeping it safe, and defeating creatures that may be lurking in the darkness is just part of our duty.”

To make his point better, Luxord stopped on his tracks and spoke, making one gesture with his hand.

“So you see, I am doing what is required of-“

He stopped as soon as he noticed something new on the man. Something which he certainly didn’t expect.

A Keyblade? Another one?

How was that? What did he have to do with Roxas, Xion or even that boy Sora? What was that all about?

Even the toughest of players were faced with such sudden situations to which they had no comeback. It might be rare, but it happened. Luxord knew he had to keep his cool.

“… You possess the Keyblade. … Is that how you are related to your friend? He’s been… ” Luxord momentarily wondered whether he’d risk saying much, in hopes of getting Terra’s trust back, or hold out to his information to use at a later date. He decided for the former. “… using his own Keyblade to help us.”

It didn’t bother him that the man named Luxord appeared taken aback by the sudden appearance of his weapon. He was actually inwardly pleased that he was finally able to get some reaction out of the other, one that was expected, although when it came to this enigmatic person, Terra wasn’t sure what he should be expecting.

Terra froze and stepped back in surprise when he mentioned the “Keyblade”. Gripping his blade tighter, he narrowed his eyes again when he asked, “How do you know what this is called?” He was just about to demand more out of Luxord when he mentioned Ven and his own keyblade.

More curious than suspicious now, he added, “Ven is working with you guys…” It was more of a statement than a question.

So he’s been fighting those of the darkness all this time? And Aqua’s not with him either… That’s so… unlike him. He tried so hard to find us in the past. Terra frowned and closed his eyes, not wanting to consider if his friend had given up on them.

I can only wonder what Aqua is up to.

Looking back up at the Nobody he asked another question: “These creatures of the dark—they don’t happen to be Unversed, do they?”

Luxord wouldn’t admit to himself that he could still be quite surprised at this man and what else he might know, which made the Nobody feel a bit less like the leader of the conversation, although his best bet was to not outwardly reveal this. Instead, focus on the questions.

“We know of the Keyblade very well,” he said, gesturing a bit more with his arms than he had done before, “for it is one of unique traits which we need. Though, I haven’t expected to see more of them around…”

Luxord paused for a moment, but then, stopping the gesturing act, put one hand under the chin, supporting his head on it, thoughtful again. If that was a real Keyblade… he’d have to see it in action to be sure. Luckily, that city had quite a few Heartless to spawn at every corner. They were bound to ram into a couple on their way to the castle.

Ah, right, he couldn’t answer only that question. There was more to be answered. The next point… didn’t surprise Luxord as much as it made him raise an eyebrow.

“Unversed? That name means nothing to me. The real threat has been the byproduct of valiant hearts which surrendered themselves to their innermost darkness. The Heartless.”

Another pause, but this one was shorter.

“There is only so much that normal weapons can do against these dark beings. But the Keyblade is especially strong against them. To add to its virtues, the Keyblade sets free the hearts which were previously lost to darkness on a certain ‘type’ of those beings.”

Was it fine to give that information to a complete stranger to the Organization, and that world? Maybe… but Luxord didn’t feel they had to be in absolute secrecy either. And it was as good a gamble as any.

Luxord was waiting for him on the other end. Of course, he didn’t expect that the shoulder pad, something he vaguely registered when first seeing the man, had suddenly been coupled with the rest of an armor set. And what a curious armor. If Luxord wasn’t any better at keeping his wits about him through poker practice, he’d have looked very surprised.

But now the armor dissapeared and the young, strong, vaguely-familiar man from before was right there again.

Very well. Time to take this one step further.

“Our goal…” Luxord began, pointing with his finger to beyond the skyscrapers, towards a peak of buildings which ended in a monstrous white castle, which seemed to be far and yet quite visible through that dense, creepy cloud that was the Dark City. “…is that castle. It’s a shorter walk than it looks, but be on your guard.”

Luxord looked around, but the place they were (right before a particularly big skyscraper, with the entrance loaded with lights) didn’t have any Heartless to take notice of. Still, he had his deck of cards in hand, and started towards one of the many alleyways of the city, expecting Terra to follow.

His attention snapped back to the other when he spoke and he frowned in festering suspicion. “Is he at that castle?” He asked as he warily followed the Nobody, summoning his keyblade to his hand just in case. He sensed no enemies, but this world was far from welcoming. “Can’t your Corrider—whatever that was—lead the way?”

It had been a while since he last fought with the keyblade and now his weapon felt heavier than before—not by much, but enough to be a cause of worry. He sighed as he flicked his wrist back and forth, testing the blade. Perhaps it had been longer than he first thought—he definitely needed to polish up less he’d be taken by surprise.

((OOC: Understood! I planned to play a KH358/2 Luxord, as you may have noticed, but I think these time disparities are fine? And sorry for the delay. Uni still got a hold on me. Will try and remain active.))

The man had narrowed his eyes. Did he suspect something? Or he was simply surprised? Well, it was a Corridor of Darkness, something the casual passer-by didn’t see everyday, but Luxord could read that there was something different from pure surprise in his eyes. Experience in card games like Poker made the blond Nobody pick up this sort of thing.

“This darkness will lead to where your friend dwells now.” Luxord said that, averting his eyes from Terra and towards the portal. “Possibly the way you know him. Possibly not. I could question how you even met, but…” Luxord then shrugged and took a step towards the portal. “If you decided, let us go.”

The World That Never Was. That’s where Luxord thought about going first. The obvious choice, as their base of operations was there. But maybe there was something to be learned from taking a detour.

Not once had Luxord thought of the person with him as a acquaintance or a friend. That was beyond what he could “feel”. He only imagined him as a potential enemy or a potential helper to get Roxas more motivated, furthering the goals of the Organization. What would this new pawn turn into? Hard to say. It could amount to nothing, but… Luxord was going to test him.

Instead of making the portal go directly to the castle, he decided to have it spawn them close by, but still in the Dark City. And with that thought, he stepped forward once more and the darkness in the portal engulfed him.

The portal didn’t dissapear, and lingered there, flickering with a dark aura.

((ooc: Oh no I don’t mind at all! And don’t worry about it~ ))

“What—?” Terra started, eyes wide.

What did he mean “possibly by the way I know him”?

No.. No it couldn’t be… Ven couldn’t have fallen to darkness. He was too good for that—it was impossible. If not that, then he wasn’t sure what this Luxord was implying, but he was going to find out.

Grinding his teeth, he slammed his fist into his shoulder armor with a little more force than necessary. Barely waiting for his armor to form completely, he tossed away all reservations and entered the Corridor of Darkness.

If something happened to Ven, then he could never forgive himself and he would never be able to face Aqua again… If he could.

He stumbled a little when he reached the other “side”. Glancing around as he dismissed his armor, Terra found that he was transported to a city with dark, towering scrapers but otherwise devoid of life as far as he could still.

He grimaced as he found that this place was vaguely familiar as well. Perhaps he passed by this world in some distant past…?

Now that was interesting. New friends of his, maybe? Luxord had seen the ice-cream thing, but not the others.

But oh well. That meant Roxas was…

*walks to the town square and find a quiet spot to play* there … !

Luxord follows silently, observing the differences in Ventus’ outfit compared to the Organization’s coat. Huh. Maybe the people in the Organization should try and change their wardrobe around a bit. When they all knew who they were, there was little point to a bland uniform coat.

Well, if the kid actually managed to beat him, he’d think about implementing this on the organization.

Self-challenges. There were no better stimulants for any gaming experience.

Luxord sat by the spot Ventus pointed to, and started to shuffle his deck of cards, laying them out to Ventus, once he settled in the same place, with practiced ease.

I would love to play poker with you :D ! & a mission ? :o

The boy was interested in poker today. Intriguing. And with the doubt on his face when asking about a mission, Luxord suspected, albeit more jokingly, that this could actually be a different person from Roxas.

“Oh, so you’re interested, huh?” He looked at the Corridor of Darkness and then dismissed it with another hand wave. “Then let us have our contest. Why, I’ll even let you choose a place for us to play.” Luxord crossed his arms, but kept that perpetual slight smile on his face. “Lead the way.”

But oh well. That meant Roxas was going a bit ahead of himself in wanting to make “friends”, as it were. He had to be down-to-earth enough to realize he was a Nobody, and making friends just wasn’t something easy, or even all that possible.

Of course, it never crossed his mind that the boy in question was actually someone completely different.

“So it seems. …Well. Hope you enjoy your free time in such futile efforts of hanging out with ‘friends’, without forgetting your mission.”

Luxord would have actually suggested a small game of poker, but Roxas was never interested on those at the castle, and he was obviously bothered with Luxord’s presence. Maybe he was… ashamed of pursuing friendship with new people? Might be something he knew it was hopeless doing? Or maybe it was him just not wanting Axel and Xion to catch wind of him trying to make more friends besides them? Well, it would be certainly amusing to tell THEM about that…

It was obvious, though, that the boy wasn’t very happy with Luxord there. Aware of this, Luxord created a Corridor of Darkness just beside himself, with a hand wave.

Castle ? What castle ? who are you?….

For a moment, Luxord wondered whether he had his hoodie on. He actually hadn’t, and anyway, the card blocking Ventus’ way should have clued him out on who it was. So Luxord ended up getting confused.

“…And I thought you were up to your game, Roxas.” He said, scratching his head. “Oh well.” He swung his arm, and the card that had blocked Ventus’ way came back to his hand. “I obviously mean our headquarters. Anyway, it’s strange to see you around any world without a reason. What are you been doing?”

…Why was he holding his Keyblade that way, though? Trying to act cooler or something? And it looked different too.

“I was just observing from a distance. Seeing what sort of thing you do outside the castle. Maybe suggest a game once you settled in one place. But it seems you’re always after some ice-cream, both there and in other worlds…” Luxord shrugged, though an amused smile lingered in his features.

Oh well. The small game was losing…

*starts to whistle an walks into an alley*

Luxord stops short. An alley. Quite a narrow one. Little place to hide if he decided to pursue past that point. What to do?

Well, there was nothing much more to do than just get near and announce his presence. But maybe he’d take a bit of a dramatic approach there.

Taking one card from the deck he usually used as a weapon, he threw it into the air, and it flew past Ventus. Once it was over 7 yards ahead of him, it expanded and became a big card to block Ventus’ advance. There were gaps around it, if Ventus insisted on passing through, but Luxord did that only for the dramatic effect.

Oh well. The small game was losing its excitement, anyway. He got up soon after that, and saw Ventus keep walking, so he continued to pursue him, this time without counting the time on his head. Might even be time to try and overtake him to ask what he was doing wandering around like he was.
